PART A: Introduction

An Arctic expedition physician must be prepared for any medical emergency from polar bear attack to frostbitten toes. He or she must also be on guard to ensure that stress does not cloud individual or team judgement.

PART C: Stress- 4 Minute Exercise

Student 'A' selects a number between 500 and 1000. Student 'B' mentally subtracts 9 from this number and tells 'A', who writes it down where 'B' cannot see it. Student 'B' then subtracts 8 from this answer and 'A' again records the response. This is continued, with 'B' subtracting 7, then 6, etc. down to 1, then starting again at 9. ( or different starting number on second 4 minutes )
