TERM/PHRASE CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
Ethnic Neighborhood is an area which which has a special cultural flavor within a community
Frictional Blight is a condition which results from the coexistence of two or more disagreeable types of land use
Functional Blight is a condition which results from an area in a community being used for purposes other than those originally intended
Functional Index is a value which indicates the importance of an activity within a community when compared with the national average
Grid Street Pattern is a street design which is based on a north-south, east-west, crisscross regular pattern
High Order Products is a marketing term which refers to products and services purchased infrequently
Leapfrogging Sprawl is land development which occurs well away from an existing community
Linear Sprawl is land development which occurs along important transportation routes away from a community
Low Order Products is a marketing term which refers to products and services that are purchased frequently
Normal Sprawl is land development which occurs at the outer edges of a community
Peak Value Intersection is a location which results from problems associated with the way things look in a community
Service Center is a type of community which has as its main function the provision of goods and services to a surrounding area
Suburbs is a type of area which contains low density housing and is usually found on the outer edges of a community
Urban Fringe is a type of area which is found at the outer edge of a community and where there is a mixture of urban and rural land use
Urban Hierarchies is a settlement term which refers to the different sizes of communities, starting with, for example, a hamlet and progressing in size to town, city, and so on
Urbanization is a process in which people move from rural to urban areas causing a spread of urban centers
Zone of Influence is an area which surrounds a community and is influenced by services from this community
