INSTRUCTIONS:
Part A: Introduction
-
Explain to the students that before they begin to write they need to pick a topic and think about all the things that they know about that topic. Then they need to decide what they should include in what they are writing.
Part B: Activities
-
Have students complete the chart by naming as many feelings as they can.

Then beside each word, have the students, working in pairs, try to list other words that describe the same feeling: Explain that these words are called
synonyms
(use a dictionary or thesaurus to identify synonyms).

Have the students use four photos of themselves or draw four pictures of themselves, each showing a different
feeling
. Have them label each photo or drawing appropriately.

Choose one of the pictures in the above activity and write a story, including the following:
a) a descriptive piece about what caused the feeling
b) what the feeling caused them to do
c) a conclusion that explains why and how the feeling changed.
