All Casinos claim to have the best slot odds. One of the ways you can tell is by checking the payback percentage on the dollar slots posted at the dollar carousels. Many Casinos post upwards of 98% payback on the dollars. The latest stats indicate North Las Vegas as having the best slot machine odds. 5 cent slots = 93.7%, 25 cent slots = 96.8%, 1.00 slots = 97.5%, 5.00 slots up to 100.0%. Poker machines are best. Please be aware these stats do not mean that you will get these percentages back on every dollar you play. It simply means that over the "long haul" the machines are programmed to pay back these numbers. The long haul could be weeks months or even sometimes years in the case of large progressives. Some people win large jack pots and many people win nothing, so be guided accordingly. The best way to play slots anywhere is just to have fun and if you win it's a bonus.
SLOT MYTHS AND SLOT TRUTHS; You've probably seen this one. After playing for a long while the player finally and grudgingly gives up on the machine and leaves. In a very short time, another player steps up, slips three coins into the machine and pulls the handle...JACKPOT.....Now if that guy had only played one more time he would have won the jackpot. Not so. RNG's Random Number generaters are always in motion in the modern slot machine and timing is the only thing that determines a payout. Had the original player stayed at the machine he would have had to engage the reels at the precise moment the new player did, a very improbable proposition. ********************************************************************** WARM COINS DENOTE A PAYOFF IS DUE. Not so. Many players believe this to be true, the truth is, it only means that the lights inside the machine have thrown a little heat on the coins and warmed them up because the machine has not been played for a while. It means nothing more than this. ********************************************************************** AFTER PUTTING A LOT OF MONEY INTO A MACHINE it just has to pay off. Not necessarily so. Payoffs are not calculated in that manner, they are calculated on a percentage pay out over an indefinite period of time. This means that over time a slot machine will payback whatever percentage it has been preset for it has no idea how long you have been playing and whats more it doesn't care.
I have had numerous Emails from slot players who believe they have found the Achilles heal of slots. They may very well be right and if it works for them who am I to discourage them. After some thirty five years of playing slots I have not been so fortunate as to have the secrets revealed to me, not that I haven't been looking or trying. There have been times in my illustrious slot playing career that I too thought I had found that secret, revealed only to a select few. After all didn't it work out five times in a row in five separate casino visits and in different casinos? But all too soon it came crashing down around my head and all the signs and signals betrayed me leaving me a quivering whimpering mass wondering what went wrong? What went wrong is simple. My luck ran out. The formula for winning that I had so carefully and proudly nurtured disappeared like a rock in the sea. Good luck is the only element for winning at slots and if you play long enough you will get lucky. You probably won't get the giant million dollar jackpot but you will get some smaller hits and the thrill that goes along with those smaller hits. My last two casino outings were lucky for me, but I'm happy with small wins like 300.00 at a time. Every time I win a couple of hundred dollars I think how lucky I was. Systems and loose slots aside, luck is the greatest element in winning at any random game like slots.
Tipping at the slots ******************* Without predetermined rules or benchmarks, the average player is not sure whether to tip and when to tip slot attendants. Tipping a slot attendant simply shows good form on your part. When to tip is the more difficult question. Although drinks are free in almost every casino it is recommended that you tip the cocktail waitress when you receive a drink. The amount of the tip depends on the denomination you are playing. If you are playing dollars you would probably want to tip a dollar for a drink or possibly two the choice is yours, Anything over two dollars is much more than expected. If you're playing halves, one or two coins is a fair tip, however if you wish to tip more that's up to you. When playing quarters a couple or three quarters is a fair tip, up to four quarters is not unreasonable, big winners give bigger tips but it's your call. Nickel players should be prepared to drop a bunch of coins in the tray if they expect a return visit from the waitress. In any case, small tips or no tips will produce long dry spells between drinks. My tipping habits have become more generous over the years since I feel, I'm going to pump it into the machine anyway so a good tip only means a few less spins and more orange juice or coffee. Slot attendants are overworked in many casinos and often they are not represented in large numbers. This translates into a longer waiting period for the player when a machine has gone into "tilt" because the hopper is empty or the machine has jammed. Usually on a jammed machine I don't tip because I feel I'm paying for machine maintenance and that should be up to the casino. I do tip on a good hit when the payoff is made by the attendant or if I have been winning and the machine needs a refill of coins. How much to tip depends on the denomination of coins being played and or the size of the win that has prompted attendant service. I consider one to two percent on anything over three hundred dollars to be a reasonable tip. On megajackpots, well I've never had that experience but I would probably be quite generous.
Those of us who play the slots, play for a variety of reasons and winning is certainly one of those
reasons. Very few of us play the slots because we want to lose our money but we do want to get
a certain amount of enjoyment out of our slot playing dollar as well as the anticipation of a possible
win, even a jackpot. My slot playing experience spans some thirty years and the changes that
have taken place in that short span of time are staggering.
Considering these changes and the arrival of the internet it seemed a perfect time to prepare a
manual of sorts for you the slot player. It's not that there aren't enough books written on the topic
but there is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about slots. A lot of what is written is
no more than opinion, some is based on experience and some is based on fact.
This site will attempt to identify each of these elements as they apply so that you the reader can
come to your own conclusions. There are also many myths accompanying the playing of slots, things that some slot player believe to be true but are meaningless to the outcome of a spin of
the reels.
The purpose of this slotbook is to provide as complete a vehicle for the slot player as will be
found anywhere on or off of the internet. Slots are not generally understood partly because of a lot of misinformation distributed by well meaning authors and in some cases authors out to make a buck with "how to win" books on slots and other games of chance. Everyone wants to
win and so it is easy to understand how books of this kind are so successfull. Winning at slots
is largely a matter of LUCK!
Some authors will tell you where the loose slots are placed in a casino but they don't tell you that
loose slots mean different things to different people. For most of us a loose slot is the slot that
allowed us to go away a winner. Not really loose but luck on the part of the player.
Slot myths, the truth behind the myths You've probably seen this one. After playing for a long while the player finally and grudgingly give up on the
machine and leaves. In a very short time, another player steps up, slips three coins into the machine and pulls the
handle...JACKPOT....Click link for more.![]() |
