Remote Access / PPP

With earlier version of OpenTransport (Supported with MacOS 7.5.5) the Dial access software was called PPP. Starting after MacOS8.x the name changed to Remote Access. The steps for setting up your WINCOM connection is almost identical and they all start with the basics.

Items needed to complete setup

  • Your assigned WINCOM username
  • Your assigned WINCOM password
  • Local Dialup phone numbers:
    • 945-8600 or 945-4327
  • TCP/IP settings for Name Server Addresses

To begin...

  • Click on Apple Menu. (located in top left)
  • Click on Control Panel.
  • Click on PPP or Remote Access.

  • Enter your username (ie. kevinm) in the "Name:" field.
  • Enter your password in the "Password:" field. (the screen hides passwords with circles)
  • Enter WINCOM's local access number. Either 945-8600 or 945-4327.
Hint: If call waiting is interrupting your Internet session add *70, before the access number. (ie. *70, 945-8600)
